Radioimmunoassay of free light chains of immunoglobulins in urine.

چکیده
We describe radioimmunoassays for kappa and lambda light chains of immunoglobulins in urine. The assays, which involve antisera to free light chains, were sufficiently sensitive to measure the light chains in unconcentrated urine from healthy subjects. The usefulness of the assays in clinical practice is illustrated by measurements of light chain excretion by patients, including serial studies on patients undergoing treatment for myeloma.

Development and characterization of polyclonal antibody against human kappa light chain in rabbit
Polyclonal antibodies against kappa light chain are used to diagnose diseases producing free light chain. The kappa and lambda light chains are products of immunoglobulin synthesis and released into the circulation in minor amounts such as serum, cerebrospinal fluid, urine and synovial fluid in normal condition. The purpose of this study was the production and purification of polyclonal immunog...
متن کامل[Clinical value of the blood measurement of the free light chains of immunoglobulins].
Monoclonal free light chains are found in the serum and urine of patients with B-cell proliferative disorders, including multiple myeloma. Measuring free light chains in serum is useful for the diagnosis and monitoring of free light chains diseases. Moreover it could be interesting in the monitoring of treated multiple myeloma with complete immunoglobulin and of monoclonal gammapathy of undeter...

Background: Immunoglobulins are a group of proteins that have important role in defense against microorganisms. Immunoglobulins consist of heavy and light chains. In human, immunoglobulin light chain comprises of two isotypes: Kappa (K) and lambda (λ) based on amino acid differences in carboxylic end of their constant region. Marked changes in the K to λ ratio can happen in monocl...

In healthy individuals, plasma cells originating from the bone marrow produce immunoglobulin molecules composed of two heavy chains and two light chains. There are two types of light chains in humans. The κ light chains are encoded by the immunoglobulin κ locus on chromosome 2 and λ light chains are encoded by the immunoglobulin λ locus on chromosome 22 [1]. During B lymphocyte development, the...
